The bail plea in Narada case was put on stay by Calcutta High Court. The 4 TMC leaders were arrested for their professed association in the Narada sting case. The High court has decided to refer the case to a larger bench as there was a disagreement on decision amidst division bench. Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal suggested for their house arrest, whereas Justice Arijit Banarjee suggested to grant the Interim bail. Calcutta High court has ordered Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee, Madan Mitra and Sovan Chatterjee, the TMC leaders to stay under the house arrest. The matter of Interim Bail has been now referred to a bigger bench.
Although, the Court has allowed Firhad Hakim and Subrata Mukherjee to access through the files and take meetings virtually during the house arrest. Tushar Mehta, Central Agency Solicitor General has appealed the court to keep the TMC leaders in custody and hold the orders as they could threaten the witnesses and the system.
